Maintaining happiness in challenging times

[vimeo id=”72010905″ width=”625″ height=”352″]

It often seems elusive and often inplacably linked to our circumstances. Abraham Lincoln suffered incredible stress and horrific circumstances throughout his life and yet said. “Most foks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” An impressive perspective considering. Here are just a few ways we can stay happy or at least happier as we face monumental changes in the reverse mortgage industry.

  5. How soon we forget. Some of the happiest songs of the modern era came from the voices of the wealthy movie stars during the Great Depression. If it were not for the Great Depression many argue that the lovely Miss Shirley Temple would never had the career she did.

When it comes to members of the Rat Pack (or the Summit as Sinatra originally named them), all was not as it seemed on the surface. Certainly Dean was not the boozer or philander he was made out to be. However, after his son died and he was facing his own mortality, here is how his agent, Mort Viner, allegedly described his behavior: “It’s obvious that Dean has resigned himself to facing death with a beer in one hand and a bottle of pills in the other.” No Dean was no martini drinking lush but neither was he the radiance of sunshine as depicted in the popular “tone” Shannon reminds us of.

Optimism alone could not turn the oil situation in Mexico around as witnessed by the announcement coming from Mexico today. It also has no cure for the HECMs in the MMI Fund. Optimism cannot change much. Like religion, it is the elixir of the down trodden.
