“Having a serving mindset’ is critical to success in almost every area of the financial services industry. As the partner in charge of taxes at LA County’s ninth largest CPA firm, you either had that attitude or you had to be prepared to lose your best clients. In that field keeping existing clients exceeded even bringing in new clients into the firm as to importance; however, putting the emphasis on keeping existing clients happy meant even more new clients. When I joined the firm 12 years earlier, we were in the top sixty CPA firms in LA County.
