10 ways to Prepare to win amid adversity

When you’re preparing to put your hand to undertaking you should always keep this one thing in mind- the end or desired goal, but even more importantly the obstacles and pitfalls you’ll encounter. Anticipating and overcoming adversity is perhaps one of the most overlooked yet essential skills a leader can possess.

Here are a few things to keep in mind to better prepare, anticipate, and overcome the pitfalls we all encounter in any business, marketing, or sales undertaking.

1- Unexpected problems don’t announce themself.

2- Problems rarely are limited to just one facet of our business.

3- Wisdom is required to distinguish between what appears to be the best plan versus what would actually be effective.

4-Fortitude: those who succeed have trained themselves to act rationally in situations that most people fear.

5- Be like water. Accept the fact that nothing is certain and that betting on stability is a fool’s errand,

6- Recognize that not preparing for adversity is willfully choosing to be a victim of it in the future.

7- Commit to the grind. When sales are slow don’t let up on your sales and prospecting activities.

8- Find the lesson. Each unexpected difficulty is a blessing in disguise helping us decode how to better face a similar challenge in the future.

9- Enlist the help of others. Find other fellow professionals who likely have faced similar circumstances. Ask what they did and what they learned from their experience.

10- Don’t give up. As Thomas Edison said, “I haven’t failed. I just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. Adversity and setbacks push us one step closer to a win.
