Mutual of Omaha Mortgage Continues to Invest in Growth by Adding Veteran Industry Leaders to Retail Division

[Dateline June 5, 2023]
SAN DIEGO, CA — Mutual of Omaha Mortgage announced the addition of key industry leaders to its retail division, continuing the company’s investment in growth.

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage has named Geoffrey Wallace as Director of Strategic Business. Wallace formerly served as Director of West Coast Sales at Reverse Mortgage Funding (RMF), which recently exited the mortgage business.

In his new role, Wallace will focus on creating outside business relationships within the financial services industry and other industries, while playing a strategic role in creating Mutual of Omaha Mortgage’s retail platform.

“We are very excited to welcome Geoffrey Wallace to our growing team,” said Chris Kargacos, Executive Vice President of National Sales for Mutual of Omaha Mortgage.

“It’s easy to see that Mutual of Omaha Mortgage is going to be a predominant player in the mortgage industry, so it was a no-brainer to join the team,” Wallace said. “They have all the building blocks in place and are executing at such a high level as they continue emerging as an industry leader.”

In January, Mutual announced the addition of Mark O’Neil, RMF’s former Wholesale National Sales Leader, as its new Senior Vice President of Wholesale, along with a group of nine account executives and other new team members.

Mutual of Omaha first entered the reverse mortgage market when it purchased Synergy One Lending and its subsidiary Retirement Funding Solutions (RFS) in 2018.

  1. With low origination counts and disappointing participation in the industry by financial advisers, has MOOM become top heavy in its endeavor to penetrate the financial services industries? IMOOM appears to be attempting to avoid that outcome since Geoffrey is not just focused on financial advisors. Of course this will produce a rather scattered approach to reaching out to businesses outside of the RM industry but perhaps that is how MOOM intends to avoid becoming much more top heavy in the financial services area than it currently is.
