Wasting money on SEO?

Reverse Focus Marketing Tip

Reverse Mortgage SEO

Before you hire a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) expert to help your company come up in the search engines, spend some time setting up your company on Google Places:

I frequently see companies spending a lot of money on SEO and unfortunately it’s often a waste. As an agency who does a lot of SEO, I certainly see the benefits of working the search engines. That said, for reverse mortgage originators and offices, there are better ways to invest your resources if you want to be found online.

The first thing I recommend is to set up your Google Places account. This helps create the results you see in Google searches that show the addresses of businesses matching your search (see image). You’ll see that these appear above the ‘organic’ search results below. The Google Places listings also let you add information about your company and images to enhance your listing. And best of all, it’s free!

I hope this has been helpful!

Thank you for a word of sanity in a wild and crazy marketplace. There are far too many SEO “consultants” and “experts” selling snake oil.

Thanks for the advise. But the google is so expensive, they told me for being on the first page is like $20.00 a click so be minimum of $600.00 a month so what do you think about this pricing? Is it right or any other way to go for it?Thanks

Actually, you are confusing Google AdWords with Google Places.

Google Adwords is when you pay for your ad to come up in Google search results (the results at the top and right that are labeled with the small word ‘Ads’ above them). You’re right: this can get expensive depending on how you set your budget.

Google Places – the one I recommended – is 100% free. You just need to take them time to claim/add your business and then set up the account.
